Stay centred

Most power adaptor inputs are of the familiar concentric barrel type – a round hole, with a metal pin in the centre, like this power input on the left:

But some devices have a totally different type of power input – I’ll cover more in the coming weeks.

Have a look at this Korg keyboard power input (left) – you’ll see that instead of having a pin in the centre power input hole, it has a plastic receptor for a pin:

So check your device power input carefully!

You can ask me if you’re not sure about what power adaptor your device needs – email me at
caroline AT myvolts DOT co DOT uk. Tell me all the details of your device and and I’ll tell you exactly the power adaptor to buy.

Caroline is a leading authority on power supply adaptors. Although there's not a lot of competition, admittedly. She's been at MyVolts for more than 10 years, is Director of Operations, and works in the Dublin office.
